Most Fours Against MI in IPL

Although hitting fours is considered to be the “less glamorous” method of scoring runs in T20 cricket, it’s still an incredibly effective one, and arguably requires more skill and technique than six-hitting!

As it happens, some players in the IPL seem to love sending the ball to the fence with great regularity when they play against Mumbai Indians, which is something their bowlers will want to make note of.

To help them out, here’s a list of top 5 batsmen who have hit Most Boundaries against MI in IPL cricket:

#5. Chris Gayle (56 Fours)

The big-hitting West Indian is already famous for his ability to send the ball over the fence, but he appears to like hitting fours as well when it comes to facing Mumbai! The leading six-hitter against Mumbai Indians is also fifth on the list of batsmen who have hit the most fours against MI in IPL cricket, with 56 hits to the fence to go along with 40 over it.

With Gayle now firmly a part of the Kings XI Punjab setup and having formed a dangerous opening duo with newly-appointed captain KL Rahul, expect both those figures to go up in 2020!

One of Gayle’s former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates takes fourth spot on the list of batsmen who have hit the Most Boundaries against MI in IPL cricket, and it’s none other than Mr 360 himself, AB de Villiers.

Given the nickname for his ability to hit the ball to all parts of the ground, de Villiers seems to showcase all his skills when taking on Mumbai Indians, having hit 61 fours against them in 20 innings. If that trend continues in 2020, then Royal Challengers Bangalore’s matches with Mumbai Indians promise to be extremely entertaining this season!

Ajinkya Rahane is widely regarded as a classic, elegant batsman who has the ability to go big when the situation demands it. This style of play usually means that he hits more fours than he does sixes, but almost every hit to the fence (or over it) is usually a thing of beauty. Equally adept at playing straight down the ground as he is square of the wicket, Rahane has hit no less than 64 fours in just 17 innings against his local IPL side.

This impressive tally bags him third place in this list of batsmen who have hit the most fours against MI in IPL history. Now a part of the exciting Delhi Capitals, Rahane will surely be looking to improve on that number come the new IPL season.
