Ancy Sojan Biography

Ancy Sojan is a 21-year young athlete from Kerala. She broke the national u21 long jump record with a distance of 6.36m at the Khelo India Youth Games. Her father Sojan E.T was a budding athlete and classmate of Olympian P Ramachandran at the Central UP School at Trissur.

Due to some unfortunate circumstances, he could not pursue his dreams on the track and became an auto driver to make ends meet. Now he wants to see his daughter Ancy succeed.

Ancy Sojan Personal Life

Ancy Sojan was born on the 1st of March 2001 in Thrissur Kerala. She has younger siblings. She got into sports because she wants to make her parents proud and represent the country.

 

Ancy Sojan Professional Life

Ancy has achieved a lot in her short career. Her list of medals includes both national and international honors. She won the gold medal in the long jump event at the Khelo India Youth Games with a mark of 6.33m. She kept pushing herself to improve. She flourished in the year 2022. Ancy won the silver medal at the National Federation Cup in April followed by a silver medal at the Indian Grand Prix in May with a distance of 6.35m.

On her 21st birthday, she gave herself the best gift possible by winning the gold medal at the Indian Open Jumps Competitions by jumping 6.51m. The competition began in stifling conditions, to put it mildly, as the summer heat and excessive humidity seemed to scare the jumpers. Ancy overcame the odds as she found her rhythm in her jump to win the gold medal. Ancy carried that form into the Indian Grand Prix to win yet another gold medal with a distance of 6.55m.

After such an impressive start to the year here’s hoping that she wins a medal for India at the Commonwealth Games.

There is a lot of pressure on Ancy’s young shoulder as she represents India at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham this year. Although only 21 she is expected to put a strong performance at the event. She is one of the emerging young women athletes in track and field and this experience will be valuable for her future career.
