Most Catches for DC

Delhi Capitals are one of the three teams who have not had a chance to get their hands on the Indian Premier League trophy. However, they have played some exciting cricket over the past decade or so, and have given us some wonderful fielders. From Mr 360° AB de Villiers to the IPL-winning skipper David Warner, many brilliant fielders have once been a part of the Delhi Capitals franchise.

Hence, the team has always produced some brilliance in the field in almost every season. Though they have not won the IPL trophy, they have done fairly decent in the fielding aspect. Let us have a look at five players who took the Highest Number of Catches for DC in IPL:

The first name on this list might surprise many. For a team that had once boasted of the likes of AB de Villiers, Virender Sehwag was certainly not the most agile fielders in the side. However, the Nawab of Najafgarh has been a part of the Delhi Capitals franchise for six seasons.

In those six years, he took 30 catches in 85 matches. Sehwag’s catch per innings ratio for the Capitals is 0.352. He is leading the catches column of Delhi Capitals by a very handsome margin. Besides the 30 catches, he has also scored over 2,000 runs for the franchise. Sehwag almost took the team to glory in 2012.

If only Delhi Capitals made wise choices in terms of player retentions, they might have won an IPL by now. Just like de Villiers, David Warner is another player who did wonders for a different franchise but initially found his footing during his time at Delhi. The Australian opener was a part of the side for 5 years.

He represented the Capitals 57 times, in which he took as many catches as de Villiers did. His catches per innings ratio are 0.400. In all the 5 seasons he has played for Delhi Capitals, Warner has been very consistent. His best season in a blue shirt was 2013 one, which also happened to be his last season for the franchise.
