Shubman Gill, the outstanding opener for the Gujarat Titans, has joined the list of hitters with the most sixes this season after his 10 sixes last night against the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI). With 129 off 60 balls, 10 maximums, and 7 boundaries, Shubman Gill resumed his run-fest against MI. Because of Gill’s performance, other hitters combined for less than 100 runs and only managed to hit 13 boundaries, as opposed to his 17.

Gill also made it into the top 10 six-hitters this season and holds the IPL Playoffs record for the most sixes in a single inning.

With 10 sixes against the Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, Gill climbed to third place on the list of players with the most sixes this year. With only 23 sixes in 15 innings, Gill wasn’t even in the top 10 list until to this inning. Gill passed batsmen like Yashasvi Jaiswal (26 sixes), Ruturaj Gaikwad (29 sixes), Suryakumar Yadav (28 sixes), and Glenn Maxwell (31) to tie Shivam Dube (33 sixes) and trail Faf du Plessis by only three. Gill, Dube, and Gaikwad all have a chance to overtake Gill as the leader going into the IPL 2023 Final.
Faf Du Plessis, who leads the league in sixes this season, has been in excellent form throughout the tournament even though his side, RCB failed to qualify for the playoffs.
