Many world-class batsmen bat together to help the team either post a score or chase down the total. Here we bring to you some of the best and the highest partnerships in IPL for each wicket.
Jonny Bairstow and David Warner
Johnny Bairstow and David Warner hold the record for the highest opening partnership who added 185 runs against RCB in IPL 2019. The duo scored tons in the respective match and helped the team win the clash by a huge margin of 118 runs. The English maestro Bairstow scored 114 runs off 56 balls, while Warner made 100 runs in 55 balls.
Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers
2nd on the list are the living legends from India and South Africa: Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers who added 229 runs in IPL 2016, which is also the overall best record for the highest partnership for any wicket. The duo smashed centuries in the game with RCB winning by 144 runs in the end. Both the batsmen played storming innings against Gujarat Lions in 2016 while playing in Bangalore.
Cameron While and Kumar Sangakkara
The highest partnership for the third wicket was produced in the 2012 IPL edition by Cameron White and Kumar Sangakkara who added 157 runs together. Deccan Chargers posted 186/4 in their first innings and won the game by 13 runs against the Pune team.
Shakib-Al-Hasan and Yusuf Pathan
Shakib Al Hasan and Yusuf Pathan together had posted a total of 134 run partnerships for the fifth wicket-taking their team total to 158/4 in 20 overs post an early downfall. However, the team went on to lose against Gujarat Lions by 5 wickets with 12 balls to spare.
Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard
In the IPL 2012 game versus the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians claimed a memorable win by 5 wickets with the help of an outstanding partnership between Ambati Rayudu and Kieron Pollard for the sixth wicket. While Mumbai had lost their first 5 wickets for only 51 runs in a 172-run target, It was the duo of Rayudu and Pollard’s that added 122 runs to ensure a win for the team.
