Lowest Totals Scored by India in T20 World Cup

#1. 76 against New Zealand in 2016

76 against New Zealand in 2016

India has a history of playing well against the spin. However, there have been a few occasions when the side has crumbled at the hands of spin bowlers and the match against New Zealand in 2016 edition of the T20 World Cup was one of them.

Having restricted New Zealand to 126 runs in the first innings, India looked pretty confident to chase the total down comfortably, however, what happened next was something that no Indian cricket fan would like to revisit.

New Zealand spin bowlers with the likes of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi spun a web around Indian batsmen, as MS Dhoni and Co. were bowled out for just 76 runs in the end.

The 76-run total stills stand as the lowest ever by Indian team across editions of the T20 World Cup.

#2. 118/8 against South Africa in 2009

118-8 against South Africa in 2009

India has quite often faltered while chasing a low total in T20 World Cups. The game against South Africa at Nottingham in 2009 edition is one of them.

Chasing a modest total of 130 runs, India could only manage to score 118 in the end, courtesy a brilliant bowling display by Johan Botha who scalped three wickets, including Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina

AB De Villiers was awarded man of the match for his fighting 63 runs knock off 51 balls.

#3. 130/4 against Sri Lanka in 2014

130-4 against Sri Lanka in 2014

A match that no Indian fan would like to remember, the India-Sri Lanka final in the 2014 edition of the game was a hard pill to digest.

Batting first, no Indian batsman barring Virat Kohli looked comfortable in the middle. Opener Rohit Sharma just didn’t get going even as Yuvraj Singh was equally criticized for his 11-run knock off 21 deliveries as India could only post 130 in the end. Virat Kohli had a stellar season and did all he could in the finals to take India home but not to be that time. Virat scored 77 runs off 58 balls in the final which included 5 fours and 4 sixes.

#4. 135 against Australia in 2010
