Indian tennis star Sania Mirza’s return to the court has been fantastic so far and she continued her winning spree by confirming her berth in the final of Women’s Doubles of the Hobart International Tennis Tournament.
On Friday, Sania won the semi-finals with her Ukraine partner Nadia Kithenok to advance to the finals. The Indo-Ukranian pair of Sani-Nadia outsmarted Slovenian-Czech pair of Tamara Zidansek and Marie Bouzkova 7-6 (3) 6-2 in the semi-final. The pair of Sani-Nadia won the match after sweating for 1 hour 24 minutes.
Sani-Nadia had to face a tough challenge in the first set itself as both the pairs were tied at 6-6 to bring tie-breaker into effect. In the ti-breaker, the Indo-Ukranian pair of Sania-Nadia upped the ante to take the lead.
The second set was a lot easier for pair of Sania-Nadia as they hardly had to sweat in the set. The Indo-Ukranian pair broke their opponents on three occasions, in the second, sixth and eighth game, to bag an easy victory and book the summit clash with second seeds Chinese pair of Shuai Peng and Shuai Zhang.
The second seed Chinese pair of Shuai Peng and Shuai Zhang advanced into the final of the event after they got a walkover from Belgian pair of Kirsten Flipkens and Alison Van due to injury.
In the year 2018, Sania decided to take a break from tennis. She had distanced himself from after the birth of son Izhan. After two years away from the tennis court, Sania’s return has been very strong. The Indian tennis star made a return to the tennis court at Hobart International and she is just one win away from her first title after giving birth to her son. Sania appeared with her son to play in this tournament. After the first match, she shared a picture with son Izhan doing high five.
