Early Life and National Career
The 22-year-old Midfielder comes from the region of Hoshangabad, Madhya Pradesh in a village named Chandon Village. He became a prominent name in Indian Hockey when son of former Hockey legend Dhyan Chand’s son Ashok Kumar spotted him during a local tournament at Akola, Maharashtra.
At that time he was 13 and he was playing against and alongside players who were twice his age. The youngster had impeccable ball control since a very young age and that is what caught the attention of Ashok Kumar. He was quick to offer Vivek a chance to shift Bhopal and pursue Hockey.
He went on to train at the Madhya Pradesh State Hockey academy for the next 3 years. The Midfielder kept on improving his game at the academy and impressed national team scouts when he was just 15-years-old. He was picked for the 2016 Junior Hockey World cup but a life threatening injury ruled him out of the tournament.
After recovering from the injury, Vivek Sagar Prasad made an enthralling comeback in 2017 during the Sultan of Johor Cup and led his side towards Bronze Medal.
Vivek Sagar Prasad has been an important part of the Indian hockey team from time to time. The young midfielder had an inspiring story no how he came up to become one of the best hockey players in the country. He was a part of the Indian team that won Bronze Medal at the 2020 Olympics at Tokyo.

When he won the 2020 Olympic Bronze Medal, this is what he had to say –
“With money, I am going to build a house. The current house in which the family lives is made of cement sheets. There are not enough rooms as well. My dream is to make a pucca house for my family. And I want to live in Chandon, my village. I don’t want to leave my village.
