Mumbai Indians displayed a far better performance with the bat on Wednesday as they posted a mammoth total of 195 runs in the first innings. The star of the game, Rohit Sharma came all guns blazing as he played a heart-warming knock of 80 runs off 54 balls. After de Kock went early, Rohit formed a brilliant 90-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav to resurrect the innings.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his fine run as he too contributed with a vital 47-run knock off 28 balls.

The middle-order comprising of Sourabh Tiwari, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard– all three played vital cameos, helping Mumbai Indians ending their innings at 195 after 20 overs.

Kolkata Knight Riders, in pursuit of the total, didn’t get to a great start as both their openers went back to the pavilion inside 5 overs. Surprisingly, Dinesh Karthik came in at as early as number three spot. He played some great shots but his stay too was short-lived. Nitish Rana, who scored 24 off 18, too couldn’t play a much-needed big knock.

KKR though had hopes of winning the game as both their star batsmen, Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan was there in the middle. However, Jasprit Bumrah didn’t take too long to account for both the wickets. He took both the wickets in just four balls as KKR were soon reduced to 101 for 6. It was just a matter of time by then. Pat Cummins four sixes ruined Bumrah’s figures in the end but that wasn’t enough for KKR to win the game.

Mumbai Indians will play their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 26th September, while Mumbai Indians will travel to Dubai to face Royal Challengers Bangalore on 28th September 2020.
