Real Madrid and Manchester United interest in Erling Haaland has Borussia Dortmund worried about their star striker, according to reports. The Norway international is the best young talent in world football, having established himself as the best young striker of the 21st century. But while the La Liga giants are keen on the upcoming superstar, Manchester United are also admirers.

Manchester United former midfielder Scholes believes Haaland has the potential to get on levels of like both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and has questioned United’s decision to chase after Jadon Sancho instead of Erling Halaand during the summer window.

Erling’s magic started from last season while at Red Bull Salzburg in Bundesliga, scoring 28 goals from 22 matches before joining Dortmund in January.

And he’s continued to dominate for Dortmund, bagging 21 goals for the new team from 23 appearances so far

United had been in for the former Salzburg striker before he opted for Dortmund, and Scholes believes they should shift their focus and planned to back to the 20-year-old when the next transfer window rolls around.

“I think Haaland is sensational,” Scholes told Stadium Astro.

“I think he’ll be up there with your Ronaldo’s and Messi’s levels possibly from what I’ve seen so far.

“That’s why I just never felt Sancho was the right type of player because we’ve got three of that type of player already.

“To spend £100m or whatever, I didn’t think it was right. I wasn’t that disappointed.

“Look, he’s a brilliant player and he’ll probably improve any team but I just didn’t think there was the need for him this year
