Lisandro Martínez has criticised Manchester United's hierarchy after a 2-0 Champions League defeat at Atlético Madrid, The Guardian reported. Goals from Pablo Barrios and Ademola Lookman decided the game, and the Argentina defender described the result as a "mirror" of the way the club is.
Martínez said the club has not invested enough in players. Hindustan Times reported that he said "I expect more from our technical director" and admitted United need to bring in more players to keep pace with their rivals.
The Times of India reported that Wayne Rooney condemned the public remarks as "disrespectful" to teammates and suggested the club take action. Former United player Ashley Young agreed recruitment must improve, but said players must still perform.
