We all know that this is an ICC ODI Cricket World Cup year, and the grand event is scheduled to be played in India in October and November. All the teams are going to play a few bilateral ODI series before the tournament to get accustomed to the format and the conditions.
Team India will be playing a series against the West Indies, the Asia Cup, a series against Australia, and a few more to prepare for the marquee event. The three-match ODI series against WI is the first one they will play after the IPL 2023. The last ODI series India played was against Australia after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Indian team management and selectors are going to announce the team’s squad for the series in a few days’ time. They will not be lenient at all while selecting the squad, as the countdown for the World Cup has begun and no ODI match should be wasted.
Instead, this series can be taken as an audition for the players for the World Cup. Some probable young players who are in the race to be in the World Cup squad can be given a chance in this series, along with the experienced players. This will make the decision-making process easier, and the deserving players will get a chance to represent the Indian team.
This series can also prove to be a platform where the captain and the coach try to plan new strategies and implement them in the match. If the result is positive, the same can be done during the World Cup in a few matches.
The probable 15-man Indian squad for the ODI series against the West Indies looks like this:
Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan (wk), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Shardul Thakur
