MI vs KXIP Match Summary: The West Indian cricketers are on a role in IPL 2019. After Andre Russell, it was time to witness Keiron Pollard’s heroics on Wednesday.

Mumbai were needing 54 runs in the last four overs. The run-rate was mounting over 13, as Mumbai needed a Keirol Pollard special. Having not made any significant contribution, Pollard lightened the crowd with his class.

The West Indian cricketer took on every bowler that came on to bowl. Pollard took the match away from Mumbai in just the space of three overs, smashing 10 sixes in his match-winning of 83 off 31 deliveries. Keiron smashed 16 runs to Sam Curran in the sixteenth over. Mohammad Shami bowled one of the brilliant spells of his career, having given just 21 runs and taking three wickets in his quota of four overs.

Even though Shami gave just eight runs in the seventeenth over, Pollard struck 17 in Curran’s penultimate over and 10 runs in the last over to bring the equation down to 4 runs off 3 deliveries, before getting caught at deep mid-wicket on 83.

Mumbai eventually chased the total in the last ball thriller as it was Mumbai who ended on a winning note in the end.

Mumbai, playing without their skipper Rohit Sharma, chasing a total of a mammoth 197 looked too much on Wednesday.

Mumbai Indians started off well with their new opener in the form of Siddhesh Lad taking on Rajpoot in the first over, hammering 11 runs in his first over. However, Indian pacer Mohammad Shami didn’t allow the openers to score freely to him while keeping it tight on the other end.

Shami accounted for dangerous Lad in the fourth over as the seamer didn’t allow Mumbai to get the start they were seeking for. Mumbai could only score 29 runs in the first four overs. De Kock and Suryakumar Yadav then led the revival, putting on 28 runs in the next four over before Surya Kumar lost his wicket on 21. De Kock soon fell for 24 in the ninth over, who never got going, playing as many as 23 deliveries in his innings of 24.

However, Hardik Pandya and Keiron Pollard then resurrected the innings, both striking maximums in the middle overs.

After smashing two sixes in his cameo of 19 runs, Pandya mistimed Shami’s deliveries only to get caught at mid-on in the 16th over, however, it was a day to witness Keirol Pollard’s special. His match-winnings of 83 off just 31 included three fours and ten sixes.

KL Rahul scored an unbeaten century off just 64 deliveries. It was a treat to watch a class player hammering boundaries all around the ground. Indian batsman notched up his first century of this year’s Indian Premier League. His innings included six fours and six sixes.

Opening the innings with Universal boss, the duo started off in the first gear, having scored just 20 runs in the first four over. Come the fifth over, Chris Gayle smashed 23 runs off Jason Behrendorff. The Southpaw smashed three sixes and one four to the left-hand seamer.

Chris Gayle went hammer and tongs while KL Rahul played as a second fiddle, as the duo brought century stand in just 11 overs.

Chris Gayle blitzkrieg lasted till 12.5 overs. The West Indian cricketer hammered three fours and seven sixes in his innings of 63 run off 36 deliveries. Once the West Indian cricketer departed, KL Rahul hogged all the spotlight. While the batsmen on the other end kept coming and going, KL Rahul kept smashing boundaries, and in the process took the total to 197 at the end of 20 overs.
