Siddhesh Lad is a middle-order batsman who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and is also part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the Indian Premier League. His ability to handle pressure in crucial situations has given him a nickname as ‘crisis-man’ by the fans and media. Along with his batting, he can bowl too, and often troubles batsman with his right arm off break.

Siddhesh Lad was born on 23rd May 1992 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Siddhesh is the son of Dinesh Lad, one of Mumbai’s most prominent coaches. He began playing cricket as early as when he was just 3 and with his father being a cricket coach he was never going to have any loops in his training. His talent was eminent by the fact that he had won the Giles shield and Harris shield titles to show for his efforts.

His father is also trained Indian batsman Rohit Sharma along with various other Mumbai based cricketers. Siddesh and Rohit studies in the same school Swami Vivekanand International in Mumbai.

At a young age he used to play tennis ball cricket under the guidance of his father. After a successful period of school cricket, he also captained Western Wolves team in the University Cricket Championship.

Lad made his domestic debut in a match of Vijay Hazare trophy on 17th February 2013. In his very first match against Saurashtra, he made an instant impact by scoring a hundred. He hit 6 sixes in his innings and scored 115 runs with the strike rate of 126.37.

In the 2012-13 season, he played 3 matches scoring 180 runs at an average of 90. His Ranji trophy debut came against Punjab in November 2013. He had an immediate impact in his second game by scoring 74 in the first and 85 in 2nd innings. He battled against a fierce Delhi bowling line-up to get to his two half-centuries.

He came into the limelight in 2014-15 season as he played 7 first-class game scoring 562 runs at an average of 42.23. The 2015-16 season was even better for him as he scored 817 runs in 12 matches.

His best innings in the Ranji trophy came in the final of 2015-16. He scored 88 runs in the final and was magnificent against Saurashtra and pulled back his team from the brink of defeat. His hard-fought 88 ensured his team the Ranji trophy title.

In the 2015 IPL auction lad was acquired by Mumbai Indians and later in 2018 auction he was again bought by Mumbai for 20 lakh rupees.
