Domestic Football Career
Lallianzuala, a talented footballer, was brought to DSK Shivajians’s Liverpool International Football Academy in 2014 to play for their under-18 team’s debut season in the 2014-15 I-League U19 season. Lallianzuala Chhangte led the squad in scoring with 16 goals, which helped them advance to the championship game. In the year 2015, Lallianzuala Chhangte represented India U19 in the Asia U18 Champions Trophy, reaching the semi-finals before losing to Japan’s Kashima Antlers. In 2016, Lallianzuala Chhangte trained at Liverpool’s youth academy in Kirkby.
Lallianzuala Chhangte was loaned to North East United FC for the 2016 Indian Super League season after signing his first professional deal with DSK Shivajians. Lallianzuala Chhangte made his debut match against Mumbai FC on 8 January of the year 2017, scoring his first professional goal and debut goal against Mumbai FC in the second match. Lallianzuala Chhangte played his last match against Minerva Punjab FC on 20 April, resulting in a 4–4 draw.
In the 2017-18 Indian Super League season, Chhangte was selected by Delhi Dynamos (now Odisha FC) for 27 lakh rupees. After failing a second trial with Viking FK, Chhangte joined Chennaiyin FC on a two-year contract on 30 August of the year 2019. Lallianzuala Chhangte played his debut match on 23 October of the year 2019 and scored his second goal on 23 January 2020, a 4–1 victory over Jamshedpur FC. Lallianzuala Chhangte scored a brace in the second match against Kerala Blasters FC, and scored the equalizer against North East United on 25 February.

In the 2020–21 Indian Super League season, Lallianzuala Chhangte scored his first goal on 24 November of the year 2021, followed by his second goal on 26 December of the year 2020 against East Bengal, a 2–2 draw, and a brace against North East United on 18 February. Lallianzuala Chhangte ended his 2020–21 campaign with four goals.
International Football Career
Lallianzuala played three times for the India U19 team during a lackluster qualifying run for the 2016 AFC U-19 Championship. Lallianzuala Chhangte received a call-up for the Indian team to compete in the 2015 SAFF Championship. Lallianzuala Chhangte started as a replacement for Robin Singh in the 77th minute of India’s encounter against Sri Lanka on December 25, of the year 2015, in the tournament. India won 2-0. Lallianzuala Chhangte was selected as player No. 502/9 for the Indian national team. Chhangte made his debut for India on December 27 when he scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Nepal in the same competition. With those goals, Lallianzuala Chhangte passed Jerry Zirsanga, who scored for India’s senior national team at the age of 16 years, 311 days, and Baichung Bhutia, who scored at the age of 18 years, 90 days, to become the third-youngest goal scorer for India at that time.
Lallianzuala Chhangte played for India at the 2018 SAFF Championship, where he scored once against Sri Lanka on September 5 to assist India win their opening group match by a score of 2–0. Lallianzuala Chhangte was selected to represent the football team of India in the Intercontinental Cup team of the year 2019. On July 13, of the year 2019, with India trailing North Korea 0-3, Lallianzuala Chhangte scored a goal in the second game, which India ultimately lost 2–5 in. Lallianzuala Chhangte was named in the squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers due to his strong performance in the ISL.
