Klopp Not Satisfied With Liverpool’s Performance Despite A 4-1 Victory

TEAMtalk

Liverpool secured a massive victory over Genk in the UEFA Champions League yesterday, but the manager Jurgen Klopp was not entirely happy with the performance of his team.

According to Klopp, with the same kind of performance in the past, the game might have ended in a draw or it was also possible that the Reds might have lost because it was not a consistent performance.

The goals that were scored were the moments of individual brilliance, but the team wasn’t able to maintain the same kind of intensity throughout the game. There were times when the possession was lost when it shouldn’t have been lost.

Jurgen Klopp insisted that his boys will have to make sure that they excel when they visit away grounds rather than just thriving on home games.

It was pretty similar last season as well. The Reds were really penetrative when they played Champions League games at home, but they couldn’t replicate that on road.

However, they had luck by their side and they were able to earn a lucky qualification to the Round of 16 before going on to become the eventual European champions. Klopp doesn’t think luck will always favour Liverpool.

“In the years before we would have drawn it, maybe even lost, but all’s OK. It was intense, we needed concentration. I didn’t enjoy the game too much, but I enjoyed the result.”, Klopp said in the post-match press conference.

Liverpool are currently at the second position in the Group E points table. They had begun their campaign on a horrible note as they lost to Napoli in their very first game. However, with two wins in the last two games, they have got their campaign back on track now.

Napoli are currently topping the Group E points table with 7 points.
