Rohit Sharma is hailed as one of the prolific run-scorers for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League. He is the most successful skipper in IPL history. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians have been crowned as champions in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Sharma is keen to clinch his fifth IPL title in the ongoing 2020 edition of the tournament.
Mumbai Indians though haven’t started the tournament as they would have liked. They lost their opening game against Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets. Mumbai Indians would hope to make a comeback in the next game against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.
Ahead of the game against KKR, Rohit Sharma is likely to enter his name in the record books. Rohit Sharma is currently the third-highest run-scorer in the history of IPL. He has scored 4910 runs in his IPL career so far. The fans should know that the Hitman is just 90 runs away from completing 5000 runs in Indian Premier League. Only two other players i.e., Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina have managed to do that. Suresh Raina has scored 5368 runs at an average of 33.34, while Virat Kohli leads the chart with 5426 runs in 178 matches at an average of 37.68.
Interestingly, Rohit Sharma is just 6 sixes away from hitting 200 sixes in the Indian Premier League. If he manages to six 6 sixes in the match against KKR, he will become the fourth player to so. Currently, only three players such as Chris Gayle (326), AB de Villiers (214) and MS Dhoni (209) have recorded the feat in IPL.
Mumbai Indians is slated to play their second match against KKR on Wednesday.
