Harmeet Desai born in a cricket-loving nation opted for a career in Table Tennis, a sport which has recently picked up in India his initial achievement include winning a gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia.

Harmeet Desai Professional Life:

Harmeet Desai won the men’s singles title at Commonwealth Games Championship 2019 at Cuttack for his contribution to the game of Table Tennis he was honored with the Arjuna Award by the Ministry of Youth & Affairs Government of India in 2019.

Harmeet is touted as one of the best Table Tennis players in the country and his dream is to represent India in the Olympics someday.

His professional Journey skyrocketed after winning a team event at the Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship 2021 held in Bangkok. In the next year 2012, he won Brazil Open 2012 title and became the second player to achieve that feat after Sharath Kamal.

He bagged an individual gold medal at the  Lusofonia Games of 2014, held in Goa also became the first Indian player to reach the Qatar Open World Tour platinum series final held in Doha.

Harmeet Desai has been selected to represent India in the upcoming C0mmonwealth Games 2022 along with  Sharath Kamal, Gnanasekaran Sathiyan & Sanil Shetty with Manush Shah in the reserve.

Harmeet Desai Records & Achievements:

Harmeet Desai’s career breakthrough came in 2011 when he won a Bronze medal in Junior Boys Team at the Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships. In 2015, he was part of the Indian team that clinched the gold medal at the Asian Badminton Championship held in Pattaya Thailand.

The following year, Harmeet along with the Indian team won the gold medal in the second division competition of World Table Tennis Championships.

In 2019, Harmeet won the gold medal in Men’s singles event at the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Harmeet Desai Controversy:

In 2018, He was miffed by 1/3rd cash he received which wasn’t promised to him in the first place, and also wrote a letter to the Gujarat Ministry expressing the discrepancies ‘in the cash awards from the medallist of state.

In spite of 1 crore which was promised by the State Government to be handed over to players who won the gold medal which he won but he said while talking to one of the media outlets that the amount he received was only  INR 33 Lakh, not 1 Crore and added that he didn’t receive a cash reward for team events competition.

In his old tweet in 2018, an Indian paddler expressed his discrepancies which caught attention on social media.

Harmeet Desai Unknown Facts:

Harmeet Desai was part of the Junior Team that created history by winning the Junior World Team Championships. He also won the ITTF Indonesia Open tournament in the year 2019.

He also created history by winning National Team Championship in the year 2019 and also become the first player from Gujarat to win National Championship in Table Tennis.
