The Badminton World Federation announced a revamped tournament calendar for the remainder of 2020 following disruptions caused by COVID 19 pandemic as per the reports Indian Open will be held in Delhi from 8th-13th December.
The BWF tour is scheduled for a return with Taipei Open 2020 (Super 300) from 1st- 6th September. All other tournaments like New Zealand Open 2020 (Super 300), Malayasia Open (Super 750), Thailand Open (Super 500) have found new homes in the calendar as everything has been rescheduled due to COVID 19.
The season which ends with BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Tour Finals in Guangzhou, China has been pushed back a week and will now conclude on December 20, 2020. The BWF Thomas Cup and Uber Cup finals in 2020 will take place in Aarhus Denmark will take place from 3rd -11th October 2020.
The Badminton governing body is all set to start Hyderabad Open 2020 from August 11-16th.
Rescheduling all tournament dates worldwide is not a cakewalk as you need to explore all permutations and combinations before you figure out certain dates to which BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of all athletes, officials and Badminton community is the topmost priority for us at the moment and also it is difficult to predict than when the travel restrictions will be uplifted but we are not in a mood to start any competition until and unless we don’t get clearance from the authority as the safety of everyone is must in the need of an hour”.
