The Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a four-game Test series between India and Australia, is scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 9 at Nagpur. The series offers India, the hosts, a chance to secure a spot in the 2021–23 World Test Championship final. Australia, on the other hand, will be equally desperate to maintain its top position in the WTC standings.

Cricket pundits have begun selecting their playing XIs for both teams as there is only one day until the explosive series begins. Dinesh Karthik, a seasoned wicket-keeper batsman, has chosen his India XI for the first Test match against Australia that will take place at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium as of most recent information.

Shubman Gill was substituted for KL Rahul when Karthik announced his India XI, choosing the latter to start the game alongside captain Rohit Sharma. Kuldeep Yadav and Ishan Kishan were two more notable players who were left off of his playing XI.

It is noteworthy that Suryakumar Yadav, who has been in superb form at the international level, made his Test debut as Karthik batted him. Karthik chose KS Bharat to fill the role of regular wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is not playing in the series due to a terrible automobile accident he had in December of last year.

Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin were among the spinners in Karthik’s XI. He made the choice to select Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj as his two pacers in the interim.

Karthik’s India XI for the 1st test vs Australia are :-

KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, K S Bharat, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj.
