K.S. Bharat is one of the budding wicketkeeper batsman of India. Though his age definitely does not allow him to be called a budding wicketkeeper-batsman, his little international experience helps to call us so. The player is a right-handed batsman and has already featured for India. He represents Andhra Pradesh in the domestic circuit whereas he has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He will be part of Gujarat Titans in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
Early Life & Journey:
Kona Srikar Bharat a.k.a K S Bharat was born on 03rd October 1993. The 29-year-old was born to the couple Kona Srinivas Rao and Manga Devi. Kona Srinivas Rao is a renowned craftsman at Vizag’s naval dockyard whereas Manga Devi was a housewife.
Bharat had a great start to his cricket career and his passion helped him to reach the heights he wanted to achieve. The player studied at St.Aloysius High School and he pursued his cricket career from his school days. He was called up to train with the Andhra Ranji Trophy squad at the early age of 11. He was one of the ball boys for the India-Pakistan ODI fixture held in Vizag in 2005.
Kona Srikar Bharat was not a wicketkeeper at the start of his career. He started keeping wickets at the age of 19. He played his first-class game against Kerala in 2012. The first inning he played did not give him good returns as he was dismissed in the sixth over itself. However, the player inflicted three catches in the first innings. In the second innings he got to bat, the player went on to score 37 and played a role in taking the match to a draw.
K S Bharat did not allow the poor start to his batting to get on him as he accumulated runs in first-class cricket. This led to the national team call-ups but failed to get into the playing XI. In the meanwhile, he was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore which allowed him to shine and make a statement. Following his fine performance, the management rewarded him with the test cap in 2022. He made his debut against Australia in a bilateral series at Nagpur.
