Yuvraj Singh Named The Icon Player of Maratha Arabians

Hindustan Times

Yuvraj Singh has been constantly making the headlines since he announced his retirement from international cricket. He has taken digs at the Indian team management for not grooming someone for the no. 4 position in white ball cricket. He also recently tweeted that he wished Sourav Ganguly would have been the president of the BCCI when Yo-Yo test was in demand which sparked a debate among the fans.

Yuvraj, at the time of his retirement, had made it very clear that he wanted to take parts in the foreign leagues. BCCI generally doesn’t give permission to the Indian players to go and feature in the foreign leagues.

If an Indian player features in the foreign leagues, he not only becomes ineligible to play for India again, he also becomes ineligible to play in the IPL. Since, Yuvraj retired from IPL as well along with international cricket, there were no obstacles for him in terms of playing overseas and he featured in the Global T20 Canada earlier this year.

Now, the Southpaw is all set to feature in the T10 league which is going to be held in Abu Dhabi. He has been chosen as the icon player of the Maratha Arabians and will play with the likes of Lasith Malinga and Dwayne Bravo in the tournament.

The Indian cricketers who have played in the T10 league before Yuvraj are Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Munaf Patel, Praveen Kumar, RP Singh, S. Badrinath, Pravin Tambe and Reetinder Singh Sodhi. All of them did that after their retirement.

Yuvraj is already excited about this 10-over tournament. “It is going to be a thrilling time for the game of cricket. Its heartwarming to see leagues like T10 putting in so much hard work and offering such exciting format for sports enthusiasts,” The 37-year old was quoted saying by Cricket Next.

The T10 league will start on November 14 and this will be the third edition of the tournament.
