The 1000th match of the IPL 2023 between the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals ended up being a memorable one thanks to the victorious run-chase by the Rohit Sharma-led team as well. As they competed at Wankhede, MI was given a massive 213-run target to reach after rookie Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed her first IPL century.
Later, Tim David’s last-over heroics, in which he smacked three consecutive sixes off Jason Holder’s delivery, helped MI chase down the target with three balls to spare. Apart from this, Sandeep Sharma‘s breathtaking catch to remove Suryakumar Yadav from the game attracted a lot of attention.
WHAT. A. CATCH! 🤯
Spectacular effort from Sandeep Sharma to get the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav 👏🏻👏🏻#MI need 43 off 18.

Surya hammered a ball over short fine leg in the 16th over of MI’s chase that appeared to be a clear boundary. Sandeep, however, retreated from his position, executed a flawless dive, and timed it flawlessly as the ball firmly remained in his possession. After making the catch and dismissing Surya for 55 runs off of 29 balls, the pacer continued sliding on the grass.
Tim David hit three consecutive sixes in the last over to help Mumbai Indians defeat Rajasthan Royals by six wickets, negating talented youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first century (124) in the process.
The 21-year-old Jaiswal single-handedly led the Royals to 212 for 7 after deciding to bat. His 124 off only 62 balls, which was laced with 16 boundaries and 8 maximums, was scored at a strike rate of 200.
With crucial contributions from Cameron Green (44) and Suryakumar Yadav (55 off 29 balls) in the middle, Mumbai Indians rallied, and David and Tilak Varma (29 not out) completed the match as the home team completed the target with three balls remaining.
