Usha Kumari Weightlifter Early Life:

The candidate was moved to Rajasthan after early exploits in Rohtak and Haryana. The player is represented by Urmila Sports Academy. Urmila Sports Academy was founded in the year 2011 by TCI under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. The candidate will take part in the 87 kg category in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

 

Usha Kumari Weightlifter Professional Life:

In 2017, an Indian weightlifter competed in her first weightlifting competition at the Government Senior Secondary School in Rohtak and also won her first bronze medal in the school national games. 

Although, a year later, Usha Kumari moved to Rajasthan to train under coach Dushyant Malik. Usha Kumari participated in the Junior national weightlifting championship held in Bodhgaya and clinched the silver medal in the following competition. 

In 2020, the Indian Weightlifter came to the limelight when she took part in the Khelo India games. Usha Kumari lifted a total of 145 kg in the National competition. She had lifted 63 kg in snatch and 82 kg in the clean and jerk category.

Usha Kumari took part in the under – 49 kg category. The recent Khelo India games were conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India at Guwahati, Assam.

Following year, the young Indian weightlifter was selected for the SAI center in Lucknow which also confirms her training expenses will be taken care of by the sports authority of India. 

Usha Kumari took part in the Junior national weightlifting Championship held in Patiala, Punjab where she won the bronze medal.

In the upcoming edition of Commonwealth Games 2022, Indian Weightlifter Usha Kumari is one of the best bets to win the medal that India is taking ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Usha Kumari will take part in the 87 kg category in the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Usha Kumari Weightlifter Family:

Hailing from Haryana, India, Young Indian weightlifter Usha Kumari was born to Surendra Kumar at Morkheri. Usha Kumari’s father Surendra Kumar runs a small electrician shop in their hometown.

Usha Kumari also won Haryana’s first gold medal in the women’s 55 kg weightlifting event in the game and celebrated the victory with her coaches and father.

“My whole family eagerly awaits summers as it brings more repair work of fans and coolers to my father in the village. This way, he can earn enough to keep the household ration last. The first thing I noticed on coming here to the games was the presence of so many lights and fans and wished that my father could repair them to earn more money (laughs). To win the first weightlifting gold medal in these games for Haryana is a special feeling for me and my whole family,” said Usha while speaking with The Indian Express.

Usha Kumari won her first gold and state’s first gold medal in the girl’s 55 kg weightlifting event at the Khelo India Youth games held at Tau lal Devi stadium in Haryana.

Indian Weightlifter, Representing Rajasthan, Usha Kumari won the gold medal in the U-17 girl’s weightlifting event at the Khelo India games. 

Usha Kumari took part in the Junior national weightlifting Championship held in Patiala, Punjab where she won the bronze medal.
