“This is not expected from you….” Sunil Gavaskar statement on Virat Kohli

Sunil Gavaskar on Virat Kohli

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad played a game yesterday in IPL 2024. This match saw the masterclass batman of RCB – Virat Kohli smacking an inning of 51 runs in 43 balls only. However, doubts are being expressed about the rate at which he scored these 51 runs. At the same time, a former Indian veteran team cricketer has chided Virat for his slow innings.

According to Gavaskar, Kohli would have been better with the strike rate. It is when the spinner lasted as long as 14 overs, that the spell became even more desirable. Sunil Gavaskar said in the Star Sports show –

It was very clear from middle overs that he had lost his rhythm. I am not aware of the numbers but he should have hit a boundary when he scored 31-32. At the end, when he was out, in the 14th or 15th over, he had the strike rate of 118 which was not expected from him.

Virat Kohli scored his fourth half-century of this season

It was yet another half-century from Virat Kohli. He is out today for 65 off 37 balls which marks his fourth knock of this season.  While all the other RCB batsmen played quick innings in this match, Virat Kohli scored runs at a strike rate of 118.60 which angered many people.

Virat Kohli scored a half-century in 37 balls in this match. During this period he hit 4 fours and one six. Kohli added 65 runs for the third wicket with Rajat Patidar while sharing a 48-run partnership with Faf du Plessis for the first wicket.

In that match, Rajat Patidar for Royal Challengers Bangalore scored fifty in just nineteen deliveries. Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli made the highest partnership in this match in which Patidar scored 50 runs in 20 balls and Kohli contributed with 51 runs in 43 balls. Cameron Green (37 runs in 20 balls) and Swapnil Singh (12 runs in 6 balls) hit quick singles in the final overs which helped RCB to reach 200 runs.

This is Virat Kohli’s fourth fifty of this season. Earlier, he had scored half-centuries against Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.
