Ronald Koeman ask Barcelona to sign former Manchester United forward

Under a new manager, Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona has agreed a £28m deal to bring Lyon right-winger Memphis Depay to the Nou Camp.

Ronald Koeman always wanted to sign the 26-year-old, who he knows very well from his time coaching the Netherlands national team.

Koeman is looking for a replacement for Luis Suarez and thinks that the Lyon winger would be the ideal candidate.

Memphis is set to travel to Barcelona in the upcoming days to complete a medical with his new team, and it is hoped he will be presented as a Blaugrana player later in the week.

Depay might be available for Barcelona’s season-opening match in LaLiga season, which is on September 27 against Villarreal.

Ronald Koeman has been chosen recently as the managerial replacement for Quique Setien been appointed as manager of Barcelona.

The club is hoping to overcome strong after a devastating season where they lost the LaLiga title to their biggest rivals Real Madrid and were embarrassed in their Champions League exit following an 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in semi-finals.

Depay joined Lyon from Manchester United in January 2017 for 25 millions. where he struggled from injury and less playing minutes under the new coach.

Since joining Lyon, Memphis has shown much more advancement and has improved from his days at Manchester United, scoring 57 goals in 140 appearances.

Ronald Koeman could start in starting line up with Lionel Messi, who decided to stay at the Nou Camp after previously insisting he was going to leave.
