Ravi Shastri rates Washington Sundar’s performance against MI as the best in the tournament

India’s head coach, Ravi Shastri has lauded Washington Sundar for exhibiting a superb spell against Mumbai Indians on Monday. He rated his performance against MI as the best so far in the tournament.

In pursuit of a 201-run total, Mumbai Indians couldn’t get off to a great start, thanks to a superb spell from Washington Sundar in the power play overs.

The RCB spinner gave away just 12 runs in the four overs and took the important wicket of skipper Rohit Sharma. Ravi Shastri took to twitter to shower praise for Sundar.

In a batsman’s world – from Chennai to Washington. Best IPL performance so far in 2020. Special,” he tweeted.

Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore had posted 201-run total in 20 overs. Openers, Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal scored respective half-centuries as they set the foundation for a huge total. Batting stalwart, AB de Villiers played another sensational knock in the tournament. He scored his second half-century in IPL 2020, thereby helping his team go past the 200-run mark.

Mumbai Indians didn’t start well, however, some unbelievable stroke play from Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan helped the side level the score in the end. Ishan Kishan scored a beautiful knock of 99 runs off 58 balls, while Kieron Pollard amassed 60 off just 24 deliveries.

RCB eventually won the game via super over. Navdeep Saini gave away just 7 runs in the super over, which was chased down by RCB quite comfortably.

RCB will play their next match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday.
