“I wanted to inform you that unfortunately, I have to end the 2021 season,” Nadal tweeted on Friday.

After he lost the French Open semifinal round against eventual winner Novak Djokovic the recurring issue flared up again and he doesn’t want to take any risk at the moment.

“Honestly, I have been suffering much more than I should with my foot for a year and I need to take some time… to find a solution to this problem or at least improve it in order to continue to have options for the next few years,” Nadal said.

“I’m with the maximum enthusiasm and predisposition to do whatever it takes to recover the best possible shape to keep competing for the things that really motivate me.

“I’m convinced that with the recovery of the foot and obviously a very important daily effort… this can be achieved. I will work as hard as I can to make it happen.”

The Spainard misses Wimbledon  and the Olympic games in order to rest after the clay court session.  Nadal has won 20 Grand slam title a record which he shares with Roger Federer and Djokovic  will be competing for the US Open tournament which will be played on August 30.

Novak Djokovic who are considered favorites to win the recently concluded Olympics 2020 but lost the semifinal round and he would be eager to win US Open to win all four major Grand Slams in one single season and with the kind of form he is in to expect a US Open title from ace Serbian player will not be a false thing.
