Mohsin Khan Biography
Mohsin Khan is an up-and-coming fast-bowler who represented Uttar Pradesh in the domestic circuit and is part of the Mumbai Indians squad in the IPL. He is regarded as a hot prospect in Indian cricket circles thanks to his speed and has made quite a good first impression in the first few first-class matches that he has played. He will be looking to enhance his growing reputation if he were to get any chances in the upcoming edition of the IPL.
Mohsin Khan Family Background
Mohsin Multan Khan was born on July 15, 1998, in Sambhal, a city in Uttar Pradesh. His father, Multan Khan, served as a Sub-Inspector in the police. Mohsin has three siblings – two brothers named Azam Khan and Imraan Khan, and a sister as well. Like most young boys growing up in India, Mohsin was fond of playing cricket. However, his father, as well as his brothers, spotted talent in him from a very young age and encouraged him to pursue cricket seriously and make a career in this field. Mohsin took their advice to heart and rose swiftly through the ranks, representing Uttar Pradesh at younger age groups.
Mohsin Khan Cricket Journey
Mohsin’s rapid rise through age-group cricket was noticed by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, who called him up to the senior side during the 2017-18 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s domestic Twenty20 tournament. After playing for Uttar Pradesh U-16s and U19s, his debut came on January 10, 2018, at the age of 19, against Madhya Pradesh. He did not bat in the first innings and took 1/32 in his 4 overs as his side suffered a 7-wicket loss. However, Mohsin did enjoy some success in his debut season, taking 13 wickets overall.
His exploits in that tournament grabbed a lot of eyeballs, and he was snapped up by the Mumbai Indians in the 2018 IPL player auction. Less than a month later, he would go on to make his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the 2017-18 Vijay Hazare Trophy against Maharashtra. He ended up on the losing side yet again, going wicketless as Maharashtra posted 343/5 in their 50 overs, but redeeming himself slightly with the bat by scoring 34 off 15 balls in a 105-run defeat.
He would have to wait a little longer to make his debut in the Ranji Trophy and played his first (and till date only) Ranji Trophy match against Madhya Pradesh in January 2020. This time, he ended up on the winning side, taking two wickets in the first innings and scoring 8 in his side’s first innings as UP wrapped up a 7-wicket win. Before that, he had been picked up by Mumbai Indians again in the player auction for the 2020 IPL season.
Mohsin Khan Future
Although India is a vast country that is also densely populated, we’re always on the lookout for the next great fast bowler. The Indian fast-bowling situation has progressed by leaps and bounds of late, and Mohsin is just another one of a long line of bright talents in the pipeline. Mentored by Badruddin Siddiqui, the coach of Mohammad Shami as well, Mohsin is in good hands within the UPCA setup. Despite being only 21, Mohsin has been clocking speeds in excess of 140kmph already, and the future looks bright for him. Next on his agenda has to be breaking into the Mumbai Indians side and showcasing his talents on the world stage – as many youngsters before him, the IPL could be his stepping stone to the next milestone in his career.
