Piyush Chawla is one of those players who has been known because of his ability to play different roles at different levels of the game. When it comes to international cricket, Piyush Chawla was more of a right-arm leg-break bowler but during his time within the domestic cricket, he always considered himself as an all-rounder who could bowl leg-breaks as well as bat.

Piyush Chawla Early Life

Piyush Chawla was born on 24 December 1988 in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Piyush Chawla’s cricketing career began at a very young age of 15. He was picked to play for U19 team against England in test matches. In the two matches, he bagged 13 wickets.

In 2005-6 he was a part of the Indian under 19 side that beat Australia 4-1 in a limited over series. His success in the under 19 age group did not stop there as in 2006 he went on to win the ICC under 19 World Cup where he starred with 4 wickets in eight overs in the final.

Piyush Chawla’s performance in the under 19 World Cup was to some extent his ticket to the Indian team. Even before he has made his debut for the Indian team he claimed international reckoning by cleaning up Sachin Tendulkar with a googly in the Challenger trophy back in 2006.

Later in that year, he made his senior side debut against England, his debut did not go according to plan as he just managed to pick one wicket. His test debut was not as good as it was expected to be but his debut in ODI was impressive as he picked up three wickets in his first match against Bangladesh on 12 May 2007.

He was regarded very highly but never actually lived up to the expectations he had his amount of chances but could not make it count. Piyush was a part of the T20 and the ODI World Cup victory of India in 2007 and 2011.

Chawla has been playing in the Indian Premier League since its start and had represented Kings XI Punjab in the initial five seasons where he picked up 57 wickets in 55 matches. In 2014 Piyush was acquired by Kolkata knight Riders and in that very season, he helped KKR lift the IPL trophy. Prior to the 2020 IPL, he has been purchased by Chennai Super Kings. As far as his performance in the Indian Premier League is concerned it has been of top-level and he has been consistently performing for the franchises he has played for.

Not much is known about this star performer and his beautiful wife’s love story, but according to an online portal, Piyush and Anubhuti were friends before they fell in love.
