IPL 2023 : “I had given up all hopes of a comeback to cricket”, Mohsin Khan admits after heroics against MI!

Sports, be it Cricket, Football or Hockey, can be cruel sometimes. Its not always a heroic story where a player keeps on winning trophies without facing major setbacks or injuries. I have no shortage in example. From Yuvraj Singh’s Cancer to Rishabh Pant’s horrific car accident, every player has to go through it.

One such player who recently scripted a comeback from Injury is Uttar Pradesh born Left-arm bowler Mohsin Khan. He sustained a left-shoulder injury which kept him out of Cricketing action for almost a year as in his own words “some bizarre medical condition” led to his arteries blocked which restricted his entire arm movement.

“The first thing I would like to say is, I wish this injury shouldn’t happen to any cricketer because this was a really bizarre medical condition. My artery was blocked, there were blockages on my arm nerves, etc.” – Mohsin Khan said.

At the time of his surgery, Doctors even told Moshin that had he been any further late for treatment, his Left-arm had to be dismantled. But despite all odds, Khan Sahab prevailed. Last night he was the poet and MI were left stunned with his “poetry with the ball”.

After conceding 21 runs in his first 2 overs of a 3-over spell, the 31-year-old was given the task to take Lucknow Super Giants over the line, something that proved to be a blessing in disguise for the bowler. He had a chance to redeem himself and defended 11 odd runs in front of 2 IPL big hitters, Tim David and Cameron Green.

Both of them had no answers whatsoever to Mohsin Khan’s accurate full-length deliveries and pitched all 6 balls out of the Aussie duo’s hitting arc. After the match, he appeared in front of the cameras to talk through his comeback performance and said that he is grateful of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka and Mentor Gautam Gambhir for taking care of him just like his family.

“In this, I would really like to thank my association (UPCA), Rajiv Shukla Sir, Sajeev Goenka Sir, Gautam Gambhir and most importantly family as they let me feel like nothing has happened to me.”
