Watch : Virender Sehwag praise Mohsin Khan for his outstanding final over, defending 11 runs against MI!

24-year-old UP Born Left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan was at the center of the spot light in his hometown as he defended 11 runs in the final over against 5-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. With the loss, MI dropped down to the 4th position while Lucknow Super Giants jumped to the 3rd position with 15 points.

The hero of the match was of course the Big Marcus Stoinis for his all-round performance but if it wasn’t for Mohsin Khan’s final over heroics, LSG would have easily lost the match. Its always tough for any bowler to bowl against 2 giant Australians that too in a situation where 2 big hits are enough for victory.

Mohsin Khan had the heart of a lion as he dented MI’s chances of reaching the play-offs. In front of Big hitters like Cameron Green and Tim David, Khan just gave away 5 runs out of the 11 runs that were needed. The Left-armer made his return from a shoulder injury and for that reason he missed the full domestic season and also missed a major part of the IPL.

This year he has featured in only 3 matches for LSG and picked 2 wickets. Last season, he played 9 matches and took impressive 14 wickets at an economy rate of 5.97 and his numbers speak enough about his caliber.

His return was not special because he was coming back from injury but his return was special due to his comeback in his 3rd over before conceding 21 runs in his first 12 deliveries. Mohsin went on to dedicate his performance to his sick father and even former Indian Batter Virender Sehwag praised the bowler via Twitter.

“Terrific last over by Mohsin. To defend 11 of the last over against Tim David and Green was a special effort. Last 3 overs with the ball proved costly for Mumbai.”

Meanwhile LSG now need a victory to reach the play-offs and they will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in their final match of the league stage.
