The 13th edition of Indian Premier League has begun. The tournament’s opener started with a bang as 20 crores people watched the first match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on Saturday. While stating a Broadcast Audience Research Council survey, BCCI secretary, Jay Shah said that as many as 20 crore people tuned in to watch the IPL 2020 opener between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Saturday. With that number, it became the highest ever opening day viewership for any sporting league in any country.

IPL 2020 has staged three matches so far. The fourth match will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. CSK would look to continue their winning run in the tournament. Rajasthan Royals, too, will have their eyes set on their first victory in the tournament.

The IPL 2020 was initially postponed by the BCCI due to ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, but after ICC postponed the T20 World Cup set to take place in Australia in October, BCCI got the Sep-Nov window to conduct IPL behind closed doors inside a bio-secure bubble in the United Arab Emirates. IPL 2020 final will take place on November 10, the venue of which is yet to be announced by the IPL Governing Council.
