India Faces Humiliating defeat against New Zealand:- The crippled Indian team in the absence of talismanic skipper Virat Kohli and ex-skipper MS Dhoni faced a humiliating defeat against New Zealand in the fourth ODI. India was bundled on 92, the seventh lowest ODI total by India.

It is also the lowest total posted by any ODI team at the Seddon Park, Hamilton, the record of the second-lowest total also belongs to India (122). With a 3-0 lead in the series, India rested the key players and gave the opportunity to debutante Shubhman Gill to express his talent, but nothing went according to the script. A lot was expected of him, but the pressure got the better of him.

India was dismantled by speed sensation Trent Boult wreaking havoc with the new ball. The deadly spell of Trent Boult finished with 5/21 in 10 overs. He was able to swing the ball both ways and bowled his quota of 10 overs in a single spell.

India’s lowest ODI total is 54 till date followed by a second-lowest total of 88 against New Zealand in Dambulla, Sri Lanka.

India Faces Humiliating defeat against New Zealand:- While chasing New Zealand achieved the target in 11.4 overs and at the loss of 2 wickets, Martin Guptill (14) and skipper Kane Williamson (11) were the only players to depart through the innings. The partnership of Henry Nicholls and Ross Taylor was unstoppable, taking the attack back to the opposition.

Trent Boult was adjudged Man of the match for his out of the box performance, “Nice to see the ball moving around, made the most of it,” Boult said during the presentation. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson looked happy with the consolation victory and said “I don’t think we expected this much. But the guys bowled well. It was nice to bowl them out for 90 odd. It was just one of those days. It was an outstanding performance today”.

It was a dreadful day for Rohit Sharma on his 200th outing, the disappointment was evident on the face of Rohit Sharma during the match presentation, he said “Never expected this to happen. (But) games like this happen…We’ve got ourselves to blame for this,”
