After an eventful first Day with the ball and a decent outing with the bat, India’s middle-order slumped on Day 2 as off-spinner Todd Murphy brings the visitor back to the game. Murphy’s wizardry will provide a little bit of ease to Australia after a disappointing 1st Innings.

Ravindra Jadeja’s fifer, Ravichandran Ashwin’s 3 wickets and Mohammad Shami-Siraj’s 1 wicket each saw India enabled Australia to grab a lead of 177 runs. India’s 1st Innings went off to a bright start before KL Rahul got caught and bowled by Todd Murphy.

Although Rohit Sharma got to his fifty and Ravi Ashwin came in at number 3 instead of Cheteshwar Pujara. India looked in full control on Day 1 however, Australia changed the complexion of the game completely today at Nagpur.

Todd Murphy who is on his first ever tour to India, picked 3 important wickets for Australia within the space of 12 overs. Before the end of session 1, Ravi Ashwin and Cheteshwar Pujara were removed by the 22-year-old Off-spinner on scores of 23 and 7.
However, Murphy will remember his 4th wicket today for a long time as the debutant removed India’s ace batter Virat Kohli for just 12 runs. The Indian batter edged the ball down the leg side and Alex Carey after fumbling the catch initially, helped the baggy greens get rid of Kohli’s presence.
But the story on Day 2 until now has been debutant Todd Murphy who suddenly brought the visitors back in but there is still a long way to go. India captain Rohit Sharma has scored the 1st Century of the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 and it was his 9th Test Ton.
