Australian Open 2023: Novak Djokovic beats Andrey Rublev, reaches 10th Australian Open semi-final

Novak Djokovic, Serbian tennis star, reached his record 10th Australian Open semi-final today by beating Russia’s Andrey Rublev who has been phenomenal this tour. Djokovic beat Rublev in a one-sided affair 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

Novak Djokovic now has a total of 44 grand slam semi-finals to his name which is less than only one player in tennis history, Roger Federer (46). This will be Djoker’s 10th semi-final appearance here at the Rod Laver Arena.

In the 2022 season of the Australian Open, Djokovic was denied participation in his favorite Grand Slam because he was not vaccinated as per the guidelines issued by the Australian Open Committee. His visa was cancelled by the Australian Government. This time he has compensated for the previous time as well by reaching the semi-finals.

His quarter-final match against Andrey Rublev was expected to be a thrilling match which should have been gone to five sets but Djokovic proved to be too hot for Rublev who looked like a kid in front of Djokovic. Djokovic beat the fifth-seeded player here at the Australian Open easily and made his place in the semis.

Djokovic has reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open nine times before this and has won the trophy each and every time. This will be his 10th time and he would hope to do the same this time around and reach the figure of 22 Grand Slams.

He will now face USA’s Tommy Paul in the semi-final of the Australian Open 2023 on 27th January at the Rod Laver Arena. If he wins, he is going to face one of Stefanos Tsitsipas or Karen Khachanov in the Australian Open 2023 Men’s Singles Final.
