Best Batsmen for Barbados Tridents in CPL

Barbados Trident is the defending champion and is one of the successful CPL franchises. Jason Holder is the current skipper of Tridents who guided his side to the 2nd CPL title in 2019. Barbados Tridents won CPL title twice and their first-ever CPL title came in 2014. The coincidence is big as both times, they beat Guyana Amazon Warriors. In 2015, they also appeared in the consecutive finals but lost it. They have appeared in three finals – second most after Guyana (5). Barbados has produced quality batsmen through-out the CPL.

#1 Dwayne Smith (2013-2018)

Dwayne Smith appeared in six seasons for Barbados Trident and appeared in two finals. He has been the key figure for Barbados in the batting unit. He has scored record 4 hundred for Tridents in CPL which is a record. He scored two hundred twice in the CPL (2014, 2017).

He has the most hundred (4) in CPL along with Gayle who scored for Jamaica. Smith has contributed most runs for Barbados Tridents with 1305 runs at an average of 30.34 from 47 appearances. He played an important role in the first every CPL title win of Barbados in the 2nd edition. He scored 353 runs in 10 innings including two centuries.

#2 Nicholas Pooran (2016-2018)

Nicholas Pooran made his debut for Barbados Tridents in 2016 and appeared in three seasons in CPL. He had given strength in the middle-over and accumulated 635 runs from 30 matches at an average of 24.42 and the strike rate of 157.17.

In his debut season, he played a top knock of 81 off just 39 balls against St Lucia. In 2018, he looked more established with the bat, scoring 267 runs from 10 matches at an average of 33.37. In his debut season, he played a fighting knock of 51 off 25 balls against Jamaica including 6 sixes.

#3 Johnson Charles (2019)

Barbados Trident called up Johnson Charles for the 8th edition of CPL and he didn’t disappoint the franchise. Charles showed his top-notch performance in the debut season, scoring 415 runs from 13 matches at an average of 31.92 including 3 half-centuries.

His best knock came against the defending champion of the edition, scoring crucial 58 off 39 balls.  He played some tricky cameo innings for Barbados to guide them a 2nd CPL title in his debut season for the franchise.

#4 Shoaib Malik (2013-2017)

Shoaib Malik Best Batsmen for Barbados Tridents

Before joining Guyana, Shoaib Malik played for Barbados Tridents in the first five seasons of CPL. He is the 2nd highest run-scorer for the franchise with 1271 runs in 38 innings at an average of 38.51 which is the best average amongst all Barbados batsmen.

The all-rounder scored 406 runs 2014 at an average of 50.75 to guide Barbados a maiden CPL triumph. His top knock came against Jamaica, scoring unbeaten 81 off just 43 balls in 2014.

#5 Kieron Pollard (2013-2017)

Kieron Pollard has also has played five seasons for Barbados and the T20 star has amaased1080 runs from 47 innings at an average of 30 including 7 half-centuries. He has hit more than 100 sixes in CPL and 65 sixes came for Barbados only. His best knock for Guyana was recorded against St Lucia in 2017, having scored unbeaten 83 off just 35 balls striking at 237.14.

Pollard has been in destructive mood in flag overs. He was also appeared in two major CPL finals from Barbados side and emerged victorious in 2014. In 2015, he had a good run with the bat, scoring 303 runs from 10 matches at an average of 37.87 and a strike rate of 142.25.
