American fourth seed Tennis player Sofia Kenin qualified for her second grand slam final of the year after outclassing her opponent Petra Kvitova by 6-4, 7-5 on Thursday.
The Australian Open champion will now face Polish teenager Iga Swiatek on Saturday. Talking about the semifinal clash between Kenin and Kvitova where the latter was playing her first semifinal at Roland Garros since 2012 was outclassed by crafty 21-year-old opponent. As Kenin dominated from the start and marched on with a score of 4-1 which made things difficult for Kvitova.
However, she tried holding things back and show some hope in a must-win game but the American already had a huge lead due to which it wasn’t easy for Kvitova to win that match. Kvitova who won Wimbledon twice lost her serve to fall behind by 3-2 before breaking back to 5-5. Kevin didn’t lose the opportunity to expose her opponents game at crunch moments and finally holding her nerve and playing the best tennis of her life she moves into the final of French Open 2020.
However, her opponent in the final Iga Swiatek became the youngest player to reach at the French Open women’s final at the age of 19 after she defeated Argentine qualifier Nadia Podoroska by 6-2, 6-1 on Thursday.
It will be her first major final appearance where she will lock horns against Australian Open Champion Sofia Kenin. She said that the reason why she won the semifinal encounter as she didn’t thought it was a knockout game she treated this as another match in the court. However, if everything goes well in men’s singles title we will witness again two Champion Players Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic competing in the final for the French Open Men’s singles title.
