Shkodran Mustafi is a German professional Footballer who plays as a center back for the Premier League club Arsenal and German national Team
EARLY LIFE
Mustafi was born on 17th April 1992 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany to Fatime Mustafi and father kujtim Mustami.
His parents are Albanians from Macedonian origin. Mustafi took a proactive approach to sports as a kid. He started his career in the youth system of local 1. FC Bebra and had a stint with SV Rotenburg before entering Hamburger SV’s Youth in 2006.
PERSONAL LIFE
Mustafi married to model Vjosa Kaba in July 2016. The couple is blessed with two girl children. One born before their marriage who also attended her parent’s wedding.
CLUB CAREER
On May 200 9 he joined the Everton, turning down offers from the Newcastle United and Manchester City stating that Goodison Park feels like home.
He made his competitive debut on 16th December 2009 against the BATE Borisov for the season’s UEFA Europa League. He appeared nine times in the Premier League matches for the club.
In 2012 he moved to Italian Serie B side U.C Sampdoria on a free transfer. He made his debut for the club on 26 May 2012 in a 1-3 loss against Varese. He made his Italian top flight on 11th November 2012 in a 0-2 loss against Palermo.
He netted his first goal for the club against Atalanta at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Just after two years, he moved to Valencia on 7th August 2014 on a five-year deal rumored to be 8 million euros.
He made his debut for the team on 25th September against Cordoba. He netted his first goal for the team in a 3-1 home win over Elche. After playing two years for the club he made his exit to join Arsenal on 30th August 2016 for a reported fee of 35 million euros.
He made his debut for the club in Arsenal 2-1 Premier League win against Southampton. He netted his first goal for the club in a home2-1 league win against Burnley unfortunately due to fever he missed the 2017 FA Cup final which the club won by 2-1 through defeating Chelsea.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
Mustafi started playing for his national team with the under-17 team. The youth team underwent to win the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
Mustafi has also been part of the national team that played in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, 2016 UEFA Euro and 2017 Confederations Cup.
CONTROVERSY
Mustafi once was indulged in a Beer Bottle Controversy. During a press conference, he as being a Muslim was reported saying, “I do not want this bottle beer in front of me”.
The beer bottle was one of Valencia’s sponsors, the action of former Valencia player came as a result of his religion forbidding him from either consuming or promoting alcohol.
