Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has been ruled out of the side till October due to an injury he sustained during the FA Cup semi-finals match against Manchester City.

The club confirmed the absence of the centre back until October and hence he will also not be a part of the side in the FA Cup Finals against Chelsea on August 1.

“Right hamstring injury sustained during Emirates FA Cup semi-final on July 18. Further assessments during the week identified a significant injury to the right hamstring,” the club said in a statement.

David Luiz, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Rob Holding and Willliam Saliba still make the healthy back for the Gunners but Mustafi’s absence could really be bothersome for Mikel Arteta until he returns in October.

“As a result, Shkodran had a successful small procedure to his right hamstring on Saturday. Shkodran is now in the early stages of his recovery and rehabilitation, receiving specialist attention and support from our medical team. Aiming to return to full training in October,” the statement added.

The new season of the Premier League is due to start six weeks from now and it is also clear that the 28-year-old defender will also miss the starting few matches due to his injury. The Premier League will kickstart from September 12 with new kits for the teams.
