Rohit Sharma In Top 10 In ICC Rankings Across All Formats of The Game

Rohit Sharma has made another jump in the ICC test batsmen rankings. The stylish right-handed Indian opener now occupies the 10th position in the rankings after he piled on a truckload of runs in the recently concluded India vs South Africa test series.

It was, by far, Rohit’s most successful series as a test batsman as he scored a total of 529 runs at an average of 132.25. It was a 3-match test series, but Rohit got to play only four innings rather than six as India won a couple of test matches by an innings margin.

Out of the four innings that Rohit played in the series, he failed in just one and smashed hundreds in the remaining three out of which one was a double hundred.

Rohit had gone into the India vs South Africa test series as the 44th ranked test batsman in the world. This is a massive climb in the rankings by the 32-year old.

Rohit is in the top 10 in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings and the ICC T20I batsmen rankings as well. He is the 2nd ranked ODI batsmen and the 7th ranked T20I batsmen in the world at the moment.

Apart from Rohit, there have been only two Indian batsmen so far who have made their way into top 10 in the ICC rankings in all three formats of the game. One of them is the Indian captain Virat Kohli and the other is the former Indian southpaw Gautam Gambhir.

Kohli is currently topping the ODI batsmen rankings, while he is just behind Steve Smith in the Test rankings. As far as the T20I rankings are concerned, Kohli is at the no. 10 position.

India is holding the top spot in the ICC team rankings in test cricket, while they are at the 2nd and the 4th position in the ODI and the T20I rankings respectively. The team topping the ODI rankings is England and the team topping the T20I rankings is Pakistan.
