Rishank had started playing kabaddi from a young age of seven. His mother always opposed playing kabaddi fearing he would get injured. Being more athletic and having a good build compared to his friends, he knew he could be great in kabaddi. Unfortunately, his school didn’t have a kabaddi team.
He finished high school and instantly joined Chetana Hazarimal Somani College of Commerce for his graduate degree and started playing local kabaddi tournaments for the Sagar Krida Mandal kabaddi team. During those periods, he injured himself and ended up hospitalised for a few weeks.
Unfortunately for Rishank, the money situations at home took the better of him, and he was forced to drop out of college to support his family financial conditions. He started working as a waiter at the Leela Hotel. This extra income helped him manage all his and family expenses. Soon, Rishank became a part of the Mumbai district kabaddi team. He also won the best player award while playing for the Dena Bank. He let go of his job to pursue and be more serious on kabaddi. His mom’s support was very crucial at this juncture. She supported him completely.
