Pro Kabaddi League Season 9 : Match Day 52 key events, highlights and stats

1. With only one match to play U Mumba are out of PKL 9 –Β One time Pro Kabaddi League champions U Mumba’s PKL 9 journey has come to an end after the defending champions Dabang Delhi handed them a loss by a huge margin of 17 points. With only a game to play Mumba are most likely to finish at the bottom side of the Standings and they currently have 51 points. Last night’s loss was also their 4th defeat in a row and second against Delhi. They have been highly inconsistent at the crunch phase of the tournament with Guman Singh the only player to perform consistently but lack of support from other players has ensured their exit from season 9 of PKL.

2.Β Dabang Delhi K.C now just a win away from entering the play-offs –Β Reigning champions Dabang Delhi K.C’s hopes for reaching the play-offs for a third season in a row. In the beginning of this season, they kicked their season off in an emphatic manner but by the second phase of the league Delhi became a little complacent and went out of form which saw them drop down of the top 5 in the standings. However, slowly and steadily, Delhi came back on track thanks to influential displays from Naveen Kumar, Ashu Malik and Vijay Malik as the trio stood up for the occasion whenever it was required. They have 60 points and currently sit at the 6th position. A win in their next match against Bengal Warriors will be enough to see them qualify for the next round. Although it will be a tussle between 5th placed Tamil Thalaivas (61 points), 6th placed Dabang Delhi K.C and 7th placed Gujarat Giants (56 points).

3. Arjun Deshwal still the best raider of the tournament –Β Jaipur Pink Panthers raider Arjun Deshwal’s reign at the top of best raiders list has extended to over 5 weeks. Currently Deshwal has had 214 successful raids and 269 raid points. He also has the most number of Super 10s with 16 to his name and collects an average of 12.8 raid points per match. In terms of the best defender as well, Jaipur’s Ankush Rathee has been on top of every possible list too. He has the most successful tackles (72), most high 5s (7) and most tackle points with 76. Elsewhere, Telegu Titans’ Parvesh Bhainswal has the most super tackles this season with 9, Maninder Singh has the most number of Super Raids with 9 and Patna Pirates’ raider Sachin Tanwar has the highest number of Do or Die raid points with 65.
