Gujarat Giants Vs. Tamil Thalaivas
Once the first match came to an end it was time for the second encounter to begin. Gujarat Giants were up against Tamil Thalaivas. Pawan Sehrawat led the Thalaivas from the front but he had to be stretched out of the mat after sustaining an injury and did not return to play again.
Thalaivas management will be hoping that the injury is not very serious as Sehrawat is their marquee raider this season. Following Pawan’s injury, the Gujarat Giants swiped their opposition for the first all out of the match.
The first 20 minutes of the game ended in 18-16 in favor of the Giants and hoped to take full advantage of Pawan Sehrawat’s absence. However, Tamil Thalaivas were not fazed by sehrawat’s absence as Raiders Ajinkya Pawar and Debutant Narendra Kandola constantly picked points for the Thalaivas.
The defense was looked dull from both the sides but the raiders were on fire. Despite continuous efforts the match ended in a draw. This was the 2nd draw of matchday 2 of the PKL season 9 and this goes on to speak a lot about the type of players that are playing this season. Fierce rivalry and ruthless competition has been on display until now. The Final score line at the end of 40 minutes ended in 31-31.
Bengal Warriors Vs. Haryana Steelers
After two ties it was time for the third match to begin between the Bengal Warriors and Haryana Steelers. PKL’s second most successful raider Maninder Singh who is also the captain of the Bengal Warriors was just 7 Raid points away from attaining 1000 raid points.
The first half of this game was all about the defensive strategies used by both the teams. Raiders from both sides did not seem to have that much of an impact as the defenders. Bengal defender Girish picked 6 tackle points which was half of their points at the end of the first half.
Haryana Raider Manjeet Dahiya was perhaps the only raider who looked energetic and picked 4 raid points. The story of the first half ended in the same note as the previous two matches. Both teams were level on 12-12.
Second half of the game began on a high note for the Steelers as Nitin Rawal performed a super raid followed by a super tackle in a quick succession. Youngsters have certainly showed that they are here to make a name for themselves and have constantly put up a challenge in front of the established players.
Despite having experienced players, the Warriors looked dull in front of the lively and athletic Haryana Steelers teams. Manjeet Dahiya completed Super 10 and 2 super raids in his first match of the season.
Dahiya collected a total of 18 raid points out of 21 raids. This match proved to be a one-sided affair which went towards the Haryana Steelers. Bengal raider Maninder Singh completed 1000 raid points but he will be disappointed to lose the game by a margin of 8 points.
Manjeet Dahiya looked like a bright prospect as his contribution ensured victory for the steelers. The score line at the end of 40 minutes ended in 41-33.
