Pragyan Sahu is an Indian athlete who plays for India and competes on international level. In the women’s 100-meter hurdles event at the Khelo India University Games last week, young hurdler Pragyan Prasanti Sahu broke the previous meet record set by her elder Jyothi Yarraji.

Athlete Career

After putting on an amazing performance at the recently finished Senior Federation Cup in Ranchi, Pragyan Prasanti Sahu made an outstanding comeback by winning the gold in the 100-meter hurdles event at the KIUG with a time of 13.63 seconds. Jyothi set the previous record in 13.77s.

Pragyan also beat the cutoff time for the Asian Games qualification, the Inter-State Athletics Championships in Bhubaneshwar, which will take place later this month.

“After my performance in the tournament of Senior Federation Cup, I needed this victory very much because I literally missed a medal in the respective tournament and finished as fourth,” the athlete, Pragyan Prasanti Sahu, remarked after winning the KIUG gold. It was crucial for me to start out strong, and I’m happy to say that I was very much capable of achieving that. I’ll be inspired to keep performing at a high level and prepare for the upcoming international tournament with this gold for the country. I want to make sure I continue to produce consistently since I know our coach believes in me and I want to prove myself to them.
