Kunhu Muhammed Puthanpurakkal is an Indian athlete. Kunhu specialises in the 400 metres event. In July 2016, Muhammed was part of the relay team that broke the national 4 × 400 metres relay at Bangalore and qualified for the Olympics.
EARLY LIFE:
The Indian sprinter was born on 5th March 1987 in Mannarkkad, Palakkad district. His journey of rising from “a nobody to somebody” is an inspiration for the young minds of our country. Kunhu hails from a very small town in Kerala. Today, the 32-year-old athlete has gained fame and success with his dedication and determination. His foremost goal was to represent his homeland in the Olympics Games.
Throughout his journey, he received constant back support from his family. Kunhu’s family encouraged him both mentally & financially to help him to acquire his dreams.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE:
The Kerala based athlete is a three-time National champion and also one time Commonwealth Games finalist. Talking about his personal best time, it is recorded at 46.08 sec in the 400 metres. Muhammed was also part of the Indian men’s 4*400 metres relay team. They cracked the national record in at Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore.
So far, Muhammed has shown exceptional performances in all his participations. After showcasing successful conduct in Turkey, Kunhu also earned his position in Rio Olympics 2016. While they had a record of 3:02:17 i9n Turkey and the quartet showed an improved performance in the Rio Olympics 2016 by setting a record of 3:00:91. Their excellent stint in the Olympics made them reach to 13th in the world rankings.
