Jyothi Surekha Vennam is a right-handed Indian archer who was born on July 3, of the year 1996, in the city of Vijayawada, of the country India. Jyothi Surekha Vennam won the gold medal in the solo (year 2023) and mixed team (years 2022, 2023) compound archery events at the prestigious archery World Cup. Along with colleagues and archers named Aditi Gopichand Swami and Parneet Kaur, Jyothi Surekha Vennam became the first Indian archer to win a gold medal at the prestegious World Archery Championships in the year 2023. Their team defeated the team of the country Mexico by a score of 235-229 in the prestigious tournament of Compound Women’s Team final.

On July 3, of the year 1996, Jyothi Surekha Vennam was born in the state of Hyderabad to the couple Vennam Surendra Kumar and Sri Durga. Jyothi Surekha Vennam’s mother stays at home as she is a housewife while her father, a former Kabaddi player who is now a veterinarian, works in the city of Vijayawada.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam entered the Limca Book of Records at the age of 4 after completing a distance of 5 kilometers in just three hours, 20 minutes, and six seconds by crossing the famous Krishna River three times.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam completed her studies and got a degree of graduation from the Nalanda Institute with an intermediate degree.

After she won the prestigious Arjuna Award for her accomplishments in the sport of archery in the year 2017, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu gave her a monetary prize of Rs. 1 crore and a 500 square-yard house plot in Vijayawada or Amaravati. Surekha was the first ever athlete to receive it following the split of the Andhra Pradesh state and the youngest recipient of the award in South India.
