SRH vs RCB: 41st match

Kohli slow innings received a lot of backlash

Virat Kohli played an inning of 51 runs in 43 balls in this match. He scored runs at a strike rate of 118.60 which angered many people. Fans and cricket experts expressed doubts about the rate at which he scored these 51 runs. Many veteran cricketers criticized his slow innings and said that he is only playing for his personal records and to get a place in the t20 world cup. Whereas some fans supported Virat by saying that the pitch was slow and it was not possible to play a fast inning in such a difficult pitch.

RCB vs KKR: 36th match

Controversy over no-ball

There was a lot of uproar when Virat Kohli was out in the IPL match. Actually, Kohli was given out on a ball which looked like it was a dangerous ball thrown above the waist. Kohli’s angry reaction to the dismissal also went viral on social media. 

Kolkata fast bowler Harshit Rana bowled a full toss ball to Kohli. Kohli played a little higher and caught the ball. The umpire declared him out. Even though Kohli took the review, the decision did not change. However, many people felt that Kohli was given out wrongly. But the thing to note is that when Kohli took the review, the decision was taken through technology.

Controversy over coin toss

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore were facing each other on 11th April when a controversy erupted about the toss. In this match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. During the toss, when match referee Javagal Srinath Sixa was picking up the ball, he was accused of changing the result. Many users on social media said that Srinath had turned both sides of the coin while picking it up. However, later in another video, it was revealed that Srinath directly picked up the coin in his hand and did not tamper with its position.

Confusion about overseas player coming in as substitute player

In the RR vs DC match, RR changed up their game when they used their impact sub to bring in Nandre Burger instead of Shimron Hetmyer. Regarding the fact that the team barely had three overseas players on the pitch beforehand, this was absolutely an acceptable substitution. But the anger collapsed when along with Burger, Rovman Powell also entered the ground as a substitute fielder as well. Burger replaced Hetmyer, who was the impact sub while Powell came in as a substitute for Parag, who took a break after batting for over 15 overs. The game was halted after just 2 balls as Delhi brought the attention of the umpires to the fact that the foreign player was on the ground. Ponting was noticeable in the interaction featuring an animated debate with the off-field officials around it.

CSK vs GT: 7th match

Dhoni conversation with umpire causes play to stall

While GT was on the chase, MS Dhoni entered a dialogue with the umpires about the 15th over. At the start it seemed a little disorienting but subsequently many fans on social media went on to say that it was made on purpose by the CSK captain to delay the match. Dhoni wished that left-arm pacer Matheesha Pathirana could have bowled the 16th over, but officials revoked it because Pathirana did not incorporate on the field the same time he was not. Finally, Dhoni and the umpires had a long discussion about the incident that made the match stop for almost four minutes.

Fans entering the stadium to touch Kohli’s feet and later got beaten up

In the RCB vs PBKS match of IPL 2024, the RCB team played superbly and won by 4 Wickets. Virat Kohli, the senior team batsman from the RCB, played an amazing innings of 77 runs. When the inning was going on one of the fans clambered over the guard duty and went down to the ground in order to touch his feet. And indeed, this cost the fan that immensely. A video now has come up on the public media where the security guards are captured from behind suddenly pushing him off the stage. The fan who is first taken out of the field is then subjected to a savage beating by the stadium security staff. One can see at once that the fan is punished by kicking and beating brutally by the guards.

GT vs MI: 5th match

Hardik Pandya targeted and booed by fans

The commencement of a debate was initiated by the fans who were unhappy with the decision of MI, where they removed Rohit Sharma and made Hardik Pandya the captain in IPL 2024. It was in the match against Gujarat that the atmosphere in the stands of Ahmedabad turned ugly. The fans were constantly booing Hardik Pandya. The bitterness was felt, and so was anger towards Pandya for leaving Gujarat Titans as well as his return to Mumbai Indians.t Titans and return to Mumbai Indians. 

Hardik sending Rohit to field in boundary

As the game proceeded in the GT inning, again fans displayed their anger towards Hardik Pandya as he put Rohit Sharm down to field in the boundary. A video was posted on online media platform which showed him instructing Rohit to position himself near the ropes of the boundary, which was a surprise to him. He was an object of strong criticism from the fans due to that action.

KKR vs SRH: 3rd match

Harshit Rana flying kiss gesture to Mayank Agrawal

During SRH vs KKR game in the Eden Gardens in Kolkata last week, Harshit Rana ended Mayank’s rapid start and bowled him in the final over of the powerplay. As the Kolkata Knight Riders pacer celebrated, he gave the send-off with a flying-kiss gesture. Mayank stared back at him. His gesture was broadcasted on social media extensively and he received colossal criticism from fans.

The next day, Rohit and Mayank were on the field practicing for the matches ahead. During this, Rohit reproduced the incident, leaving Mayank laughing heartily. The video of this incidence went viral on social media.

Virat Kohli sent off to Rachin Ravindra

The controversies commenced at the very opening match of IPL 2024. A significant instance of the ex-RCB captain Virat Kohli had become popular across multiple social media platforms through a video during the CSK innings. When CSK opener’s were set, Karn Sharma got the breakthrough and claimed the wicket of the opener Rachin Ravindra. Rachin dropped to his knees to play a slog sweep at the leg spinner’s delivery but Rajat Patidar caught it in the deep square leg. In the meantime, Kohli’s animated reaction, which was caught on camera, created some degree of controversy, as it seemed to be a virulent send-off to IPL debutant Rachin Ravindra. The cameraman managed to capture the angry mood of Kohli who was seen flipping a finger in a rude send-off to Rachin.
