IPL 2022: Legend Kumar Sangakkara lauds Devdutt Padikkal style of batting

Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket “Kumar Sangakkara lauds new member of the side “Devdutt Padikkal” his style of play ahead of IPL 2022 main event which will start from the clash between Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26th 2022 in Mumbai.

The franchise bagged elegant left hander for the whopping amount of INR 7.75 crore and this heavy amount for the Bangalore lad is not surprising as he has been instrumental in RCB victories with the willow in the past and it was shocking that Bangalore based franchise didn’t retained him for the upcoming season.

 

Sangakkara lauded Padikkal style of batting and added that he has been observing later in the cash rich league from last 2 years and if anything he wants to borrow from Padikkal is his classy shots towards leg side of the play if he was still playing as cricketer.

I watched Devdutt for the last two seasons, he is so accomplished. He is a guy as he goes through an innings, increases his scoring rate and minimizes the risk. I would love to have Devdutt Paddikal’s leg-side play. His flicks and his ability against pace are wonderful,” said Sangakkara at Clubhouse session on the Red Bull Cricket room.

Taking about his number in the cash rich league he has played 29 games where he amassed 884 runs at a decent average of 31.57 with a strike rate of 125.04.

The left handed batter has played some crucial knock with ace batter Kohli and guided RCB towards victory.

Meanwhile taking about Royals had a good mix of players in their squad including the likes of Padikkal, Shimron Hetmyer, Rassie van der Dussen and Daryl Mitchell along with acquiring services of two experienced spinner in the form of Chahal and Ashwin.
