IPL 2020, CSK VS DC Preview: Chennai look to get back to winning ways

Delhi Capitals will take on Chennai Super Kings in International Stadium Dubai. Both teams will be coming with different energy levels. Delhi managed to win their opening encounter from jaws of defeat and Chennai team will still be under some kind of trauma after their defeat against Rajasthan Royals. Both teams would like to win to get ahead on the points table and also to gain momentum for remaining matches. Delhi Capitals would like to see their openers coming to party.

Hetmyer would also like to score more runs to justify his place. He is a dangerous player but should improve his record on wickets that have more carry. Shreyas & Pant would like to continue from last game. Pant would want to improve on his strike rate as well, but how he played in the company of Iyer after his team had lost three quick wickets was commendable. DC would also hope that Ashwin is fit for the game and Mohit Sharma would have a better outing than the last game. Rabada looks a threat and would RCB have to be wary of him.

Axar who was one of the unsung heroes of last game would want to continue on his good form in UAE. Chennai on the other hand would like to see the bowling being tighter giving away 58 runs in 2 overs is just not acceptable. Ngidi’s last over that went for 30  was easily the biggest difference between the two teams. Sam Curran who has been the most consistent CSK player of both games would like to continue the good work. Just to change things CSK might ponder bringing Hazlewood in place of Ngidi.

Both spinners would want to forget the last game and start fresh against DC. Both spinners went for 95 runs and took only 1 wicket. Dhoni’s bowling revolves around his spinners so they need to be at their best. CSK’s batting left a lot to be desired they were never in-game and still fell 16 runs short tells that with more urgency, daring and proper batting order they could have chase it down. When a team has to chase 200+ in 20 overs the opener’s role becomes more crucial but both openers did not give CSK the start which was required. When there was need of Dhoni going up the order and taking the match by the scruff of neck he kept himself surprisingly to no. 7 and when he arrived at crease the required run rate had gone out of hand. Rayudu if fit will add more firepower and knowledge to the team.

Toss will be a factor that needs to be seen but we should see a good game of cricket. Looking at how the last match went for both sides, Delhi start favourites in this clash.
